
Touratech Rally East Wrap-Up
Last weekend, members of the Touratech staff flew to Pennsylvania to host our inaugural Touratech Rally – East. We’d been working on the event for months and it was with much anticipation that the date finally arrived.

A large group of riders (the leaders and sweep riders for the group rides) camped in the mountains to pre-run and proof these routes. We needed to confirm that the routes work and that they concur with the difficulty ratings applied.
Last weekend, riders from the Northwest and beyond descended upon Touratech-USA for our summer open house!
The Touratech Rally (West) is now less than a month away. For a small cadre of Touratech-USA staff and volunteers the riding started weeks ago, before the long Memorial Day weekend.
If I gave my ball-peen hammer a lady’s name I might feel bad bashing it against things. I love my motorcycles for the performance they offer, but they are still machines.
We arrived at Nazca just as the sun was setting, and climbed up into one of the roadside view towers to see a couple of the figures in the dirt. It was very cool, but we were excited to see more the next day from an airplane.
Buying a used motorcycle is normally cheaper, and if done smartly, there are good deals to be had.
As we approached the entrance to the canyon and passed through a few last villages, the road turned to dirt. We stopped to air down our tires for the day of off-pavement riding and were on our way. Upon entering the canyon, we were immediately awestruck by the beautiful geology.
There was a moment when I almost ran over a kid, that was a touch scary.
Going into this trip, I read about all these “cloud forests” throughout the tropics, which conjured up images of fairytale-like settings.
