Since last month’s 2014 BMW Motorrad GS Trophy in the Candadian Rockies, one question that the Touratech customer service team has been asked a lot is, “What Touratech parts were on the Water-Cooled R1200GS’s in the race?”
On September 13, the BMW Mottorad International GS Trophy concluded in Western Canada. Touratech outfitted each of the R1200GS Water Boxers in the event with skid plates, crash bars and other protective accessories and we tracked the event from start to finish.
After seven days and well over 2,300 km of tough riding interspersed with 20 special stages, Team Central and Eastern Europe (CEEU), were crowned champions of the 2014 GS Trophy, having led the competition from wire to wire.
After three consecutive high-mileage days, the BMW Motorrad GS Trophy riders today were allowed some respite, with a stage distance of 230km it was set to be less a strenuous day. Only it wasn’t! The day again featured a ‘black run’ to properly test the riders’ technique and ended with a suitably physical Canadian theme – ‘The Logger Games’.
Day 3 of the GS Trophy consisted of nearly 200 km of off-road adventure. 150 km of scenic paved mountain passes with three special challenges. The day started early – with a 6am wake-up call – but yesterday’s rain and mud soon became a distant memory as blue skies and warm sunshine greeted the early risers.
The fourth edition of the BMW Motorrad‘s international GS Trophy will take place from September 6th – 14th in Western Canada. The 2014 Trophy will include more than 2,000 unforgettable kilometers of riding through British Columbia, Alberta and the Rocky Mountains.
