Adventure motorcycling is all about freedom—the freedom to explore far-off trails, tackle rugged terrain, and ride for days without limits. But there’s one component of your bike that can make or break that freedom: your suspension. While your motorcycle’s stock suspension may be fine for casual riding, it often falls short when faced with the demands of real-world adventure riding. Upgrading your suspension isn’t just a luxury—it’s a game-changer for performance, safety, and comfort.

Here are the top ten reasons you should consider making the investment.

Better Control on Rough Terrain

Adventure riding often means dealing with rocky trails, ruts, washboard roads, and unexpected obstacles. Upgraded suspension systems offer improved damping and rebound control, keeping your tires planted and your handling predictable. The difference is especially noticeable in technical terrain where stock suspension may “pack up” or lose composure. Poorly performing suspension can be dangerous especially in off-the-pavement conditions!

Increased Comfort for Long Rides

The limitations of stock suspension make you work harder than you should to control the bike. This can lead to muscle strain and fatigue while riding. Premium suspension components soak up bumps more effectively, smoothing out the ride and reduces the physical effort needed to control the bike. The result? You’ll feel more comfortable, have more energy, and feel fresher, helping you enjoy the ride without fading near the end of the day. You might actually start playing with the terrain features instead of avoiding them!

Adventure riders often load their bikes with panniers, tools, camping gear, and sometimes a passenger. Stock suspension is set for an average rider weight of 170-180 lbs and can quickly become overwhelmed with heavier loads. Upgraded systems allow you to adjust preload, compression, and rebound for your exact loadout, ensuring optimal performance whether you’re running light or fully packed.

A tired or undersprung suspension can cause excessive front-end dive during braking, reducing control and increasing stopping distances. With upgraded springs and damping, your bike stays more level, helping your tires maintain grip and stability under hard braking—critical when you have to stop quickly and safely on gravel, sand, or pavement.

Enhanced Cornering Confidence & Fun Factor

Better suspension doesn’t just improve off-road performance—it transforms your on-road handling too. Stiffer springs and improved damping help keep your bike planted in corners, reduce wallowing, and deliver more precise steering feedback. You’ll feel more confident carving through twisty backroads or navigating tight mountain passes. Your ride will simply be more FUN!

Greater Durability, Reliability and Serviceable

Stock suspension components can fail under sustained hard use, especially when carrying heavy loads over challenging terrain. They also begin to degrade around 15,000 miles and need to be replaced at 20,000 miles. Upgraded systems are built with higher-quality materials, better seals, and superior heat dissipation, making them more resistant to wear and less prone to failure in the middle of nowhere.

When it’s time to service your Touratech Shocks we simply replace the oil and any wear items and you continue to enjoy the same shock.

Adjustability for Changing Conditions

An adventure can throw every kind of surface at you in one day: smooth pavement, rough gravel, deep sand, and rocky climbs. High-quality suspension gives you the ability to fine-tune settings for each scenario—whether you’re dialing in more plushness for sand or firming things up for high-speed road sections.

Reduced Bottoming Out

Fully loaded ADV bikes hitting a deep pothole or drop-off can easily blow through their travel, leading to a harsh bottom-out that’s bad for your bike and your body. Upgraded suspension with proper spring rates and progressive damping dramatically reduces this problem, protecting both your components and your spine. Touratech sets the rear shock and/or fork cartridge spring rate according to your individual riding style & weight!

Boosted Rider Confidence

When your suspension is dialed in, your bike feels more predictable and capable. That confidence translates into smoother lines, better throttle control, and the willingness to tackle more challenging routes. Upgrading suspension doesn’t just change your bike—it changes the way you ride.

Increased Resale Value

A well-maintained bike with premium suspension is a strong selling point. Prospective buyers know the value of a quality suspension upgrade, and it can help your bike stand out in a crowded used market. In many cases, a top-tier suspension system retains significant value if you ever decide to sell it separately.

Final Thoughts

Upgrading your adventure motorcycle’s suspension isn’t just about comfort or performance—it’s about unlocking the full potential performance and fun of your bike. Whether you’re tackling the Backcountry Discovery Routes, riding two-up across continents, or just chasing weekend dirt, premium suspension gives you the control, safety, and endurance to go further with confidence.

Your motorcycle can only perform as well as the components that connect it to the ground. Make sure those components are ready for wherever your next adventure takes you.

Touratech Suspension is simply the best suspension made for Adventure Motorcycles. Touratech Suspension is designed, manufactured and tested specifically for ADV riding. It’s serviceable for years of use and the ultimate upgrade to your riding experience.

Did you know that more motorcycles tip over while parked than while being ridden? It’s true! And the sneaky culprit is often your side stand foot. That small but mighty part is the only thing keeping your bike upright when you’re off it.

Here’s the catch: many stock side stands are little more than skinny steel spikes sticking out from your frame. Sure, they might work fine on solid, flat ground—but in real-world conditions like dirt, mud, sand, or hot asphalt, they can sink or slip, leaving your bike on its side. The result? Scratched components, costly repairs, and sometimes damage to whatever your bike lands on.

The good news? You can easily boost your bike’s stability with a Large Sidestand Foot from Touratech. It increases the surface area of your side stand, giving your adventure motorcycle a solid footing on all kinds of terrain. Don’t let a little thing bring your big ride down—check out our selection today!

The New Generation of the Helmet Made For Adventure

The Aventuro Carbon PRO helmet sets a new standard for protection, comfort, and cooling airflow for adventure riders looking for a lightweight and airy travel companion.

This is the 3rd generation of the legendary Aventuro Carbon helmet which has become a top choice thanks to the lightweight carbon fiber construction, and aerodynamic design that improves rider comfort by reducing neck strain.

The Carbon PRO is a completely new design that features more ventilation, better peripheral vision, upgraded liners with new pad-locking system and enhanced quick-release peak anchor system. The best ADV helmet just got better with the Aventuro Carbon PRO!

• More airflow with 8 intake vents and 4 exhaust vents for maximum cooling when the riding gets serious or the temperatures soar. The air efficiently cools around your head with distribution channels in the EPS foam.

• Glove-friendly controls with improved grip and function for operating vents and opening the shield on the helmet with riding gloves.

• Dual-function chin vent has been re-designed to provide rider with fine controls of the airflow to the visor and the rider.

• Updated brow vents increase the cooling airflow right where you need it for improved rider comfort when the going gets tough.

• New peak design that improves aerodynamics by cutting through the wind cleanly with less drag which reduces neck strain and increases rider comfort. The lower peak mounting points have been repositioned above the visor. This design also makes it easier to remove the shield for cleaning, installing a pin-lock or upgrading to a tinted visor.

• Improved quick-release mechanism for the peak utilizing metal threads for a reliable and secure connection. This allows the peak to be removed without using tools for riders wanting to put the helmet into ‘street mode’ for the best aerodynamics and reduced neck strain which is ideal for riding at higher speeds or street touring.

• Improved visibility with expanded peripheral range of view and shape that better accommodates glasses.

• Meets high standards for safety with both DOT and ECE 22.06 certifications.

• Communication system friendly with embossed cavities and recesses for speakers, microphone, and wires.

Updated interior with completely redesigned moisture-wicking Coolmax liner that can be washed or replaced to keep the helmet feeling fresh. It’s also equipped with 3-dimensional pre-shaped cheek pads and an F.R.S emergency removal system. The underside of the cheek pads feature reflective panels to help riders be seen in low light conditions.

A one-of-a-kind cookbook designed with motorcycle travel in mind.

This a great new book from Touratech Rally presenter, Amanda Zito. It features over 70 single-serving recipes that are easy to multiply as needed. Written and tested to prep and cook at camp. Whether you’re a seasoned motorcycle camper or a newbie looking to ditch the canned soup, this cookbook is a valuable resource.

Easy, Single-Serving Recipes The recipes are designed for one person, but can easily be doubled or tripled for groups. This eliminates the hassle of figuring out how much food to bring and cuts down on leftover food waste.

Icons for Every Recipe So you can tell at a glance if the recipe is one pot, one skillet or both. As well as icons for quick recipes, challenge recipes, vegetarian and vegan friendly recipes.

No Cooler Required Most recipes can be prepared on a single-burner stove, eliminating the need for a bulky cooler. This is a major perk for motorcycle campers, who are limited on space. The few recipes that require a cooler to maintain a safe food temperature, are labeled, and only need a small lunch cooler.

No ‘At Home‘ Prep Required The majority of the recipes use whole food ingredients and require no prep work at home, making them ideal for spontaneous getaways. Simply grab the ingredients from the grocery store and head straight to camp.

Color Photos for EVERY Recipe So even if the name of the recipe seems unfamiliar, you have an idea of what you’re getting yourself into.

Full Educational Introduction Including information like all the different kinds of stoves, cookware, water storage and filtering, food and forest safety, substitutions, cooking oils information, cleaning up at camp, and cooler tips if you choose to carry one.
