The new kid on the block in the adventure segment is the KTM 1090 Adventure R. Dakar Rally veteran Jimmy Lewis and Touratech-USA’s Paul Guillien wasted no time getting their hands on one and putting it to the test in the Cascade Mountains during Touratech Rally West last month. Their thoughts were captured on a new video that was posted today– KTM 1090 Adventure R Ride Review: Jimmy Lewis & Touratech

Thoroughly testing the bike in a variety of terrain, the guys hit jumps, logs, single track, forest roads, hill climbs, sand and more to learn just what sort of personality this bike would show in each situation.

“You can load it up for a long ride or strip it down to ride it pretty sporty if your going to take on some more aggressive trails, I think KTM hit a home run with this one” -Jimmy Lewis

Coming to the ride with very different perspective and skill sets, their riding impressions are relevant to a wide variety of riders. In this video, the discussion moves from power delivery and throttle response to traction control, ABS and navigating the ride modes. Lewis and Guillien provide insightful commentary on details like the bike’s weight, handling and feel with the updated suspension.

“If you’re considering a bike for riding a BDR, forest service roads, or long distance touring that involves a lot of off-road riding I think your going to be really happy with this bike…especially if you put in the ‘dongle’ which allows the ride setting to stay set when you cycle the key. -Paul Guillien

The story of the KTM 1090 Adventure R will continue to be written in the years to come, but the initial impressions have been positive across the board and that’s very exciting!
