Collected Threads: Part 5

This is the fifth and final episode of the amazing Collected Threads series.. It focuses on prepping for the big trip! There is some great advice and it’s pretty funny too!  Transcription below:

  • Bright lights hide the wrinkles!
  • Hey guys, thanks for coming along for the ride.  Hopefully I’ve convinced one of you to take an adventure of your own.  If so, let’s go see what you need to pack.
  • First things first: 2 wheels or a Guatemalan chicken bus?
  • Given the thrills and freedom of a motorcycle, for me the choice was easy – AND Original
  • The GS1200 will give you zero regrets outside of the mortgage you’ll need to buy it.
  • This bike is a dream to ride on the highway and offroad, it’s an absolute beast.
  • The technology, brakes and suspension will prepare you for just about any road hazard
  • But you still have to pay attention!  Don’t worry, he lived.
  • Next up figure out how to cart around half your house.
  • What was in the box?
  • I needed something efficient and the guys from Touratech really hooked it up.
  • Last Columbia trip with my big bro, the luggage was wrong and nothing was easy to get to.
  • This time inner bags and lockable boxes kept all my uninsured crown jewels safe and easily transportable
  • You could even make it a removable strong box if you found yourself sleeping in a dorm room
  • Speaking of which, some riders like to fill their luggage with camping gear.  Me?  I prefer the tranquility of a hostel.  But I digress.
  • The waterproof touratech bag filled with your stinking laundry makes a comfortable backrest
  • And the whole system doubles as a kickstand when your just, not in the mood for kickstands
  • Must haves for the trip?  A bunch of t-shirts from Collected Threads because, I’m JT.
  • A modular helmet from Touratech.  Practice your busted Spanish from under the lid while hiding your embarrassment behind a flip down shade
  • Your own air compressor.  Why? Sometimes you air up, sometimes you air down
  • 50/50 tires for when people forget how to make roads
  • Tire pluggers for right after.
  • Plenty of cash to replace the two drones you’ll break.
  • Two hundred more dollars to get these two guys to smuggle your replacement drone, back into Nicaragua.
  • Tons of tools
  • Better rain gear than this
  • 10 Lbs of the best travel guides on the planet.
  • A Little skill
  • And LOTs of heart
  • ‘What a #$%^ mess. You said you wanted rain, right? Yeah’
  • Now go book that trip – we’re  tired of hearing you talk about it.  I’m Jesse, these, are Collected Threads.
